Route to the cottage up the Trier valley

Orientate yourself at the “Gut Avelsbach”; you can reach this old wine-growing estate by turning left from the Avelsbacher Str. (there are 4 glass containers and 1 wooden wine barrel with the inscription “Gut Avelsbach”) into the little street “Im Aveler Tal” and then after a small wood and a meadow turn left into the Baltzstraße.

After the old wine-growing estate, continue up the hill until you reach the top. There you will find the old workers’ settlement of this estate. My property is the last one on the left side – No. 16; your cottage is the old barn on the left side of my house; you can park your car right in front of it.

House rules

  • Smoking is not permitted on the property, only on the street.
  • 2 cats live next door, who like to visit. These cats are not allowed in the house; I kindly ask you to observe this for the protection of allergy sufferers.
  • The observance of the legal rest periods is obligatory.
  • Parties or events are not allowed.
  • Guests are obliged to report any damage that has occurred during their stay – regardless of the cause – as soon as possible, but at the latest upon departure. They are fully liable for any damage caused by themselves during their use. If the house key is lost, a guest is liable for 100,- € each, as the cylinder and key have to be replaced.
  • The owner cannot be held liable for short-term loss of furnishings, public utilities such as electricity and water, including the failure of the heating; a price reduction is excluded. The same applies in case of force majeure.
  • The owner reserves the right to change the equipment of the rooms / the house.
  •  The owner is not liable for valuables and assets of the guests.
  • The final cleaning is included in the rent. If possible, the kitchen should be left in the same condition in which you found it on departure.
  • The owner or an authorized person is entitled to enter the house and the rooms as required, e.g. for repairs or similar that have become necessary at short notice.
  • Please close all windows when leaving the house and be sure to extinguish or switch off candles and electric light as well as electrical appliances such as stove, coffee machine, etc. when leaving.

Customer recommendations

Very sweet and friendly host. Place was very clean. Everything you need is there. Even a baby seat and crib. Serene location.

A beautiful little sanctuary on a hill above Trier. Hildegard’s house has everything that one could need. The space is very stylish with lots of very nice little touches. We had a lot of rain during our stay and the house was so welcoming, warm and comfortable for our family. I can only imagine it will be truly idyllic in the summer months.

Impeccable service and location. Very friendly host, in particular for families. Recently renovated house to high standards, very tidy and well equipped. Peaceful location but with a car very quickly at tourist attractions.

Hildegard truly has a little slice of heaven high above the vineyards of Trier. The house is a pleasant combination of warm cabin feelings with modern amenities and functionality, and our hostess was so kind and welcoming. We’d love to stay here again!

Hildegard really takes care of her guests. She made us really feel at home: a warm welcome, a beautiful and cozy house (warmly decorated and very neat), a relaxing terace and a wonderful garden and surroundings. And some good tips to discover The Moselle. We couldn’t wish for more!

Me and my family spent 3 nights in Hildegard’s house and had a really good time. The place is clean and spacious, located in a quite area and not too far from downtown and wineries. Hildegard is really helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend this place!

Hildegard offers a great place, very clean, spacious and wonderfully located near Trier. Also, she is a great host. As a guest you could not ask for more.

We spent one week in this accommodation for our first family vacation with our one-year-old son. The place was exactly what was promised in the pictures: spacious, light, clean and open. It’s really a home away from home, with all the facilities you could want. It’s amazing that such a place can exist: you’re very close to Trier by car, yet it feels completely away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s on a hill between the vineyards so you immediately feel in a different place. For parents of young kids who think of going here, it is helpful to know that the house is very open and you can easily hear what is going on on another floor, so if you have a child that wakes up at every sound, this might not be for you. There is also nothing to close off the stairs for a young child which may be inconvenient. But apart from this, it is a wonderful place for families and Hildegard is super friendly and welcoming towards kids. I certainly highly recommend this location.

We returned to Hildegard’s place for a longer stay, because we had a wonderful stay last year. Again, we really enjoyed the house and garden. The house was very (!) clean and tidy.

Hildegard has a beautiful home! It is peaceful on top on a hill with lots of space in the backyard. She had many toys and games for our boys to play with both in the house and in the yard. The house was sparkling clean and Hildegard met us to share local tips about the area. Hildegard is so kind and energetic as a host. We only wish we had more time to stay at her place. We would highly recommend staying with her.

We have stayed at many, many Airbnbs and this experience stands out for excellence. A beautiful home, lovingly crafted, spotlessly clean and Hildegard greeted us with a sincere warm welcome. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Highly recommended Hildegard’s apartment with beautiful garden and amazing view. The apartment is so clean and you will find everything you need. Really have a good time there. Plus Trier is a great city with old historic culture you must visit it! Hope I will back to here in the future.

If you want peace, tranquility, a generous hostess in a beautiful home, then look no further. Hildegard has made the perfect accommodation with everything you need and all finished to a very high standard but remaining homely This lady has the recipe right.

It was a real pleasure to stay in this fantastic location. Very near Trier and at the same time in the quietness of nature surrounding this very nice and well-equiped eco-friendly house. Hildegard is a very nice host with a very positive and social vibe. Thanks again!

Would stay here again and again if in Trier. Hildegard is just lovely, and the place is calm, clean, tastefully furnished and in a very nice old little neighbourhood outside the city center.
